Frozen Pipes
Attention all tenants!
Very cold weather is being forecasted and the following precautions need to be taken in your home:
1. Leave all faucets in the kitchen and bathroom running at a fast drip including the tub.
2. Leave all the doors open to the bathroom and kitchen.
3. Open the cabinet doors in the kitchen under the sink and bathroom so warm air can keep the pipes from freezing.
4. If you have a small space heater put it on low and in the bathroom or kitchen.
5. Walk around the exterior of the house and close up any openings to the crawl space such as doors and vents as well as you can.
6. If you have an outside water spigot, disconnect any connected water hoses. We have installed styrofoam spigot covers at some properties, please use them if available. Otherwise, if no cover is available put some type of insulation over the spigot or wrap a towel around it and secure it with duct tape.
7. Remember if your pipes do freeze and burst your water bill will jump up and getting a plumber could take a few days since they will be very busy so it's better to take these precautions and protect your pipes. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to call us.
